TOYOTA CAR STORIES
cross country corolla further defines dependable
Submitted By: Chuck P. - Bath, ME
When shipping our 1995 Corolla -with 270,000 miles on it- from California to Maine became a problem ( we had packed to much weight into the car)we decided to drive it cross country via Interstate 80. We left Oakland ,Ca. at noon Thursday, March 30 and because of commitments in Maine had to be there no later than Monday April 3rd. We drove an average of 12 hours per day at speeds from 65 to 75 mph. We encountered all types of terrain from the flat lands of Nevada to the mountains of Utah where we were close to 10,000 feet in elevation! Now remember this Corolla was loaded in the back seat and truck with several hundred pounds of belongings ! I can not emphasize strongly enough how well this 1995 Corolla with 270,000 miles on it performed! This relatively "little car " took every challenge we gave it and 3,450 miles later brought us home to Maine safe and sound by 3pm Monday April 3rd!! The only thing the Corolla needed in this epic , time pressured journey was a couple quarts of oil! Obviously every time we see Toyota's "defining dependability" ads on tv we shout our agreement and will forever marvel at our Corolla's cross country performance . As testimony, several friends had called the decision to drive our Corolla across country in 4 days foolhardy at best . Those same friends now shake their heads in amazement at our fantastically dependable Corolla!!!!
